Long Distance Phone rates

Are you paying more that 4¢ per minute on your long distance calls? Or are you getting a good rate but paying a monthly fee? The secret to getting a great long distance rate is never go through a large company. There are quite a few long distance resellers, or companies that do not own their own cables but resell airtime on larger companies systems. Your calls sound the same because they are carried on the same fiber as Sprint, MCI, and AT&T, but because these smaller companies don't spend a ton of money on advertising, they can resell at a lower rate.

The company that I recommend is ZoneLD. They offer several plans, going all the way down to 3.5¢ per minute. Here are the plans:

  • Get 580 minutes for $19.98 / month, and each additional minute is just 3.5¢
  • Get 255 minutes for $9.95 / month, and each additional minute is just 3.9¢
  • Get 4¢ per minute to 5 select states (4.5¢ to all other states) with no minimum or monthly fee

Unless you do a ton of calls, I would recommend the last plan because your are guaranteed the low rate. If you don't use all of your time with the other plans, you still pay the flat monthly fee, inflating your cost per minute. You can't beat these rates, even with a calling card. They have competitive in-state rates as well.
